The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and bringing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is why Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the toys.
