2K Games has appointed Ben Brinkman from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the development team at their internal studio, which is currently developing the anticipated third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Brinkman assumes the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' lackluster unveiling last autumn.
Recently, the company's top executive David Ismailer updated team members about this organizational change through an official communication, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had shown the requirement for a clearer game identity.
The president noted that the developers is now reimagining the project with a revised vision, aiming to address gamer demands.
The news mirrors a comparable step taken by the publisher in the summer, when they brought on an industry veteran from Blizzard to work on the BioShock development group.
Below is the entire message from Ismailer's memo:
Dear Team—
I understand you all just completed your gathering - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the good news. Last time I shared you all a note, I mentioned the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most driven and innovative developers we have had the chance to partner with - and we’re eager for that relationship to persist.”
With your dedication and versatility, particularly over the past twelve months, you repeatedly show that.
The community feedback from last fall’s the game demo was revealing. It confirmed the appeal of a action-packed game but indicated we still had improvements to make. It highlighted the requirement for a sharper identity.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve progressed. You embraced the feedback to mind and revamped the title with a renewed goal - one that’s positioned to deliver on its ambition to our audience.
The trust in this project grows every day. To advance the outstanding advancement you’ve made, I’m excited to welcome Ben Brinkman as the new Studio Head of 31st Union. Following some time of discussions, he comes aboard us on next week.
His guidance and expertise in the PVP shooter genre is vast, having dedicated the recent years creating and overseeing some of the most well-known franchises in gaming, for example the acclaimed shooter, and lately, Apex Legends.
Let’s together in greeting Ben soon. We are all excited to keep observing the progress of the game in the months to ahead.
David
Brinkman presently serves in the role of senior developer and production lead at the renowned studio for their flagship title. Brinkman previously was employed at major gaming companies in multiple production roles on the Call of Duty games, and, before that, had periods at 2K and Electronic Arts.
Project Ethos was announced in last year alongside a public demo. Initially, the developers presented the title as a "no-cost, 3rd-person action-packed experience and an innovative advancement on the style."
"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Customize your character in live gameplay to fit your unique tactics," the description reads. "Challenge the opponents with unique powers, risks, and challenges that change every session. Do you leave securely with your valuable rewards? Or go big, put it on the line, and hope your group can achieve the highest spot? The option is up to you."
The game lacks an announced debut schedule or supported systems, but players can anticipate additional details as production advances.
